On September 12, 2025, I went to Discount Tire for 12-ply tires for my 8-foot trailer that hauls about 4,400 lbs of water. I asked for 12-ply tires on 13" rims. As the salesperson, Gavin (red hair), showed me different options, I kept repeating that this was to haul 4,400 lbs of water and that they needed to be 12-ply to support the weight. Gavin never once mentioned that 12-ply tires can’t go on 13" rims. I was led to believe the entire time that I was getting 12-ply tires. When I arrived to pick up the tires and rims, I noticed they were too small and would not support the weight. Since I was selling the trailer, I wanted to make sure the tires were safe for the new owners. I asked the store manager if these were 12-ply, and he told me they were 8-ply. After reviewing the invoice later, I discovered they were actually 6-ply. I told the store manager about my conversation with Gavin and immediately returned the tires. Honestly, it felt like I was misled because I’m a woman. Since I didn’t know that 12-ply tires can’t go on 13" rims, I was obviously an easy target. This should have been an opportunity to explain the correct setup — not mislead me. I own five trailers and two trucks, and I’ve always trusted this chain for my tire needs. This experience destroyed that trust. Do not trust this store — they do not care about your safety.
